Five or six years before American Abstract Expressionism burst upon the scene, George Linn Bland, Jr. graduated Class of '40 with a BFA from the College of Fine Arts at the Carnegie Institute of Technology (now Carnegie Mellon University).

Having been grounded in a thoroughly advanced curriculum of modern or abstract art, he reserves his major interest in non-objective and abstract

expressionist styles.

He favors artists such as deKooning, Pollock, Motherwell, Joan Mitchell, Elaine deKooning and others of the same school.
