Prayer at St. Paul's

St. Paul's Episcopal Church holds the community, the nation and the world, those who govern and those who lead, and all church members in prayer every Sunday and throughout the week. We pray daily for the sick and those in danger.

Prayer is responding to God by thought and by deeds, with or without words. BCP, p. 856*.

O God of peace who has taught us that in returning and rest we shall be saved, in quietness and in confidence shall be our strength: By the might of your Spirit lift us, we pray you, into your presence, where we may be still and know that you are God; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. BCP, p. 832*.

We are a people whose faith and practice are collected into a single book, *The Book of Common Prayer. Soundly based in Scripture, this book contains all our rites from birth to death, the psalms, a catechism and all things necessary to the conducting of our common life, except for Holy Scripture and the Hymnal.
